This is a top-notch business. From start to finish, Sierra Soapstone not only has the expertise and a great selection of stone, but they have unparalleled customer service. At every turn, they are willing to go out of their way to make sure their customers are happy. They scheduled a showroom visit at off-hours due to scheduling conflicts, squeezed our installation in around the holidays on short notice, came in at the most reasonable price among the competition, and installed a beautiful stone with great skill. When I had a small problem come up after installation, they apologized and immediately agreed to correct it, no questions asked. Dealing with this company was easily the best and most hassle-free experience in my kitchen remodel. They are fantastic.
Sierra Soapstone sourced two soapstone slabs, fabricated, delivered and installed a kitchen counter and bar top. Member Comments: The owner invited me out to his retail operation to choose some soapstone slabs for my kitchen remodel. After I arrived there was no pressure to purchase any particular slab -instead the staff made sure that I was educated on all the in and outs of choosing and living with soapstone. Once I choose a slab the owner (Rod) came out to my house to take measurements and produce the template. The finish details were somewhat complicated and Rod spent a lot of time making sure that the fabrication and installation would go smoothly. When the install date arrived I was very pleased with the quality of the fabrication and how precisely they installed the slab...all the seams magically "disappeared". There was a minor fit problem on the bar top that was unacceptable to Rod and instead of ignoring it like most subs do- he took it back to his shop and fixed it then brought it back for a proper install. I have built numerous custom homes with many soapstone counter tops and without question this counter is, by far, the best I have ever seen.
Provided extensive estimate work, visited site before template and install, let us pick out the exact slab we wanted, templated and installed countertops, studwall cap, and windowsill. Oiled stone. Quickly and competitively addressed lots of questions, changes, and pricing. Very informative answers to all questions, site visit before drawing of template was extremely helpful. Visit to Sierra's shop/yard proved extremely helpful, we never felt like we were getting 'sold.' Hard to choose from all their beautiful slabs, but that is on the customer and is a great problem to have. Top notch from start to finish.
It was a pleasure working with Rod and Sarah from start to finish. They listened to all my concerns and offered solutions to them. They were extremely easy to work with and completed the job sooner than I originally anticipated. (It was nice to have my kitchen up and running sooner than I thought it would be.) But the bottom line is that I love my soapstone countertops!! I will definitely recommend Sierra Soapstone to anyone looking for a great fabricator.
Rod and Sarah were very helpful and accommodating when deciding on which counter top to go with. I wanted soapstone and done quite a bit of research on them. I was still a little leery with some of the aspects of soapstone, but when I went to Sierra Soapstone's shop, Rod answered all of my questions. He was not pushy and was very upfront about soapstone. He sent me home with some samples to test out. After I finally decided on soapstone, I picked out my slab and was put on the schedule for template and install. Sierra Soapstone was also about $1500 cheaper than most of the other bids I received. Template and install were easy and professional. So far we love our soapstone. They are beautiful, and everyone that comes over has nothing but compliments about the counter tops.
We wanted soapstone countertops for our kitchen. We visited their offices to learn more about the materials, options, pricing, effort, etc. After our first visit we emailed additional questions and always got a prompt response (office staff is great). They visited the site and provided good suggestions for our installation (like how to have countertops with undermount sink). We were encouraged to visit several times to look at stone until we were comfortable with making a decision. Member Comments: Because we were doing a minor project, we had them do the demolition (which went great). At the same time they measured and reviewed the entire project with us so we would know what to expect and how to prepare. For instance, because of their suggestions we knew to move drawers out and empty a few cabinets to save on cleaning. As we were keeping cabinets, they were careful to not damage any other surfaces during demolition. They helped us decide on what size sink to install. We had a scheduled date and time for installation and everything went exactly as we expected. The fabricator did a fabulous job in laying out our countertops on the stone selected, making best use of the stone's natural patterns. The team was knowledgeable, professional, efficient. They shared good information on how to maintain and care for our new countertops. Answered every goofy question we could think to ask. If I think of a question next year, I know I will be able to call/email and they will help me out. We also liked that we could use a credit card to pay for these services.
This company is not huge but they're not small either. They've got the facilities, crew and skill to handle any job, yet there's a real family atmosphere. Their prices are reasonable considering the work they do is first class. Every single person I dealt with was professional, interested and caring. Don't let Ashley's young, happy voice fool you when she answers the phone. She's way more than a receptionist and is absolutely on top of everything. When she promises a call back, you'll get it. Our marble slab had striking colors and veins running through it and they invited me to come to their shop and participate in placing the templates so I could capture my favorite parts. I'd never heard of such a thing. John spent a good half hour with me taping and retaping the templates until we got it just right. It was quite a puzzle challenge. The counter tops are in and they're absolutely gorgeous. And the install was so fast. Look no further. This company is terrific!
Sierra Soapstone was fantastic. Price was much more reasonable than some of the local places in SF (where we were) and Rod gave us much better service as well. We were nervous about the greenish slab soapstone we were looking at and the very prominent veining, but it was definitely the right choice. It aged to dark charcoal in no time (we stopped having to do monthly/every other month mineral-oil treatments after maybe 5 or 6 times. We did all our countertops and fireplace. Rod came out at convenient times and did all the layout measuring, brought back the GIGANTIC slabs (35-40 feet in just 3 pieces). Fantastic install job AND we even had them recycle our old kitchen marble into a bathroom vanity (we ordered sinks online - shipped to Rod and he installed them, did cutouts etc. everything.) Just looks incredible and the soft-nature of the stone (easily scratched chipped) really wasn't as bad as I thought. Scratches just wear away without even doing anything to them, and there's just no countertop that's better. Happy to be a reference!
Pleasure to do business with! Not only do I love my countertop but I really appreciate the job Sierra Soapstone did, from choosing the material to installation was very smooth. Best part is both April and Rod cared about my project, they welcomed questions, and I never felt rushed, whether at the showroom or on the phone. Good prices, excellent workmanship, great crew, neat and professional. I chose the (Sierra Black) soapstone with white veins, it's absolutely gorgeous!
My husband and I couldn't be happier with our soapstone countertop! Rod Weston and his team at Sierra Soapstone were so helpful, from selecting and educating us on the product, to installation and maintenance. Their service was and is excellent. The countertop is both practical and beautiful and we expect to enjoy it for many years to come. Thank you so much!
